Ballard High School is located in eastern Jefferson County in Louisville, Kentucky. The Lady Bruins compete in the 7th region, as well as the 28th district as part of the KHSAA. They call Ron Jones Field home and welcome the best competition across Kentucky and Indiana to their home stadium each year. Head Coach Alan Jones, who's led the Lady Bruins' program for 23 years, annually challenges his team with one of the toughest schedules in the state.
In 2022, the Bruins captured their first ever Kentucky State Softball Championship completing an undefeated, 39-0 season. After capturing the Region 7 championship at the University of Louisville, the Bruins headed east to the University of Kentucky campus for the State Tournament. The Bruins roared into Lexington and blitzed their four opponents by a collective score of 31-2, including turning the first-ever triple play in a Kentucky State Championship game.
The 2023 Bruins have their sights set high again as eight of nine starters return from their championship team. Several national polls have Ballard softball in the top 10 in the country, and they're tabbed as the preseason #1 team in the state of Kentucky. Come out and get a glimpse of these incredible athletes as they again compete against one of the toughest schedules in trying to repeat their state championship.
